Filling the Gaps in Your Master Policy

Your association covers the building, but we cover your life. Protect your interior structure, personal belongings, and liability with a policy designed for condo owners.

Understanding Maryland Condo Insurance

When you buy a condo or co-op, you face unique insurance needs. While your association has a “Master Policy,” it generally only covers common areas like the roof, lobby, and elevators. You generally need two policies to be fully protected. Your personal policy fills the gap left by the Master Policy.

  • Your Policy: Covers personal possessions, structural improvements (like a remodeled kitchen), and additional living expenses.
  • Master Policy: Covers the building shell and common areas.

Who Covers the Walls?

Sometimes the association insures the bare walls; sometimes you are responsible for everything from the studs in (cabinets, fixtures, wiring). We help you review your association’s bylaws to ensure you have the correct coverage.
